Beginning August 3, 2015 Union College students, faculty, and staff may begin using the New York Times online edition. This institutional subscription includes the full archive of current and historical articles published since 1851. Fulltext coverage of articles published between 1851 through 1922 and since 1981 is complete. Some material published between 1923 and 1980 is unavailable. Union College users may also access this New York Times subscription through apps for iPhone, Android, Windows Phone, and Blackberry. Union College’s subscription includes the phone app only.

Access requires individual username and password associated with the user’s college email address. To set up this free account visit nytimes.com/grouppass from any computer on the Union College network. The account must be set up from a computer physically located on the Union College campus and connected to Union’s network. Visit the group pass page any time to view the expiration date for your account (one year from the date you set up the account). You have successfully claimed a pass when you see the Start Your Access screen.

Once your account is active, you may log in at http://www.nytimes.com on a laptop, desktop, or tablet computer and the New York Times app on your mobile device to access articles at any time from any location. Your account may be managed through this web address as well. 

A New York Times representative conducted user workshops on Monday, August 17, 2015 in the library. Attendees learned more about several education tools available to teachers. The InEducation site provides real classroom examples of how professors are using the New York Times in classes. Among other resources the InLeadership site provides highly rated cases studies usefule for leadership and management courses.
