Dove award-winning Christian vocal trio, Selah, will perform for Union College Family Worship in the College View Seventh-day Adventist Church on Friday, October 19, at 7:30 p.m.
Known for their revival of hymns in Christian music, the trio formed in 1999 and now is comprised of Todd Smith, Allan Hall and Amy Perry.
Selah has released twelve albums and received eight Dove Awards, including Inspirational Album of the Year and Group of the Year. The group has sold more than four million albums and released eight #1 singles, such as signature songs “You Raise Me Up” and “Wonderful Merciful Savior.” Their latest album, Unbreakable (2017), features a mix of new songs along with classic hymns and standards.
“Hymns have always been foundational to what we do and who we are,” Hall said on the group’s official website, selahonline.com. “We sang ‘It Is Well With My Soul’ at a youth conference one time and were congratulated by a teenager afterward for writing such a ‘cool song.’ I explained to him where the song came from, showed him a hymnal and told him it was chock-full of other really ‘cool songs.’ Parents are always telling us, ‘the only way our kids know these hymns is because we sing along in the car with you.’ If we’ve played a small part in keeping hymns alive for future generations, I feel like we’ve accomplished a dream.”
The College View Seventh-day Adventist Church is located at the corner of 48th and Prescott on the Union College campus. Doors open at 7:00 and the concert will be free and open to the public.
