Welcome back to PA, Kim!

“I felt really warm and cozy here, and I liked the small school atmosphere,” said Kim Brown, a 2002 PA graduate who has returned to Union’s PA program as a faculty member. “I had a great experience in my program here. I loved it, which is part of the reason I wanted to come back. I do feel like this is where I’m supposed to be.”

For the past 19 years, Kim worked as a physician assistant at Urology, PC in Lincoln in a clinical practice position. While practicing, she came to Union to give guest lectures to the PA classes. “That gave me a bit of a connection here. When the position became open, I thought maybe the time was right,” she said. “I’m really looking forward to getting to know these students.” In the spring, she’ll be teaching a hands-on clinical skills class and a class educating students on professional issues relating to their chosen career. She also looks forward to meeting with students as their adviser and helping them to keep on track with their courses.

Kim has lived in Lincoln since she graduated high school in Columbus, Nebraska, and came to Union. She and her husband, Mike, have three children.

Kim loves to run. “If you can hit it right in the season, you can run when the sun is coming up. It’s really pretty and it just makes you appreciate everything about nature,” Kim said. She runs three to five miles several mornings a week, keeping active before work so she can spend more time with her family in the evenings. “Spending time with them is way more important than going on a run.”
