Twenty-four Union students and nine staff were inducted into the Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) honor society at an afternoon ceremony in Woods Auditorium on April 30. The event also marked the establishment of ODK at Union College, making it the most recent charter of the 300 institutions of higher learning in the national society.
Business professor, Dr. Matthew Greaves says he believes the society is an opportunity to give students “additional contacts, additional experience and additional skills that will make them more competitive than they already are with the other students graduating around the country.”
The society was first established in 1914 at Washington and Lee University in Virginia to honor, identify, and develop outstanding leadership skills. Famous members include athlete Peyton Manning, singer Sheryl Crow, and Supreme Court justice Amy Coney Barrett.
National president of ODK, Tara Singer officiated over the induction and charter ceremony. She installed the new officers of the Union College circle, including business administration major Morgan Wolzen who will serve as the first president.
