Union College’s Master of Science in Leadership Program now has a complete faculty with the arrival of the founding director, Kevin Flores. Flores is no stranger to the city of Lincoln. He worked as Director of Managed Care for Saint Elizabeth Regional Medical Center for 20 years. He then moved on to other healthcare positions in Iowa and California. Flores and his wife Stacy returned to Lincoln in 2021, where Flores helped develop a new initiative for Lutheran Family Services. “I directed the Fatherhood Initiative Program, which I absolutely loved,” he said. “I worked with noncustodial fathers in re-engaging with their children.”
When he’s not serving his community, Flores has a multitude of hobbies. “In my spare time, I love to cook, work in my woodshop and fish.” He’s also enthusiastic about grandchildren. His three grown children and their children are all in the Lincoln area.
Flores holds a Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration from Loma Linda University, along with a doctorate in Leadership Studies from the University of Nebraska Lincoln. “My dissertation followed three Latino executives in healthcare. The goal of my dissertation was to give them a voice.”
Flores recently worked as an adjunct professor for Union’s Business Program before transitioning into the new program. “I thought it was a calling to move into education full-time. I hope that this program gives students an option beyond the undergraduate level to provide them with skills and become more marketable as they move forward in their careers.”
