If you attended Union from 1980 onward, there’s a good chance you have been assigned to read Light Bearers to the Remnant, a hefty 656-page history of Adventism. During his years teaching religion at Union, Dr. Ed Allen often wished for a smaller book with a more global emphasis to use in classes. After talking with Dr. Michael W. Campbell, director of the North American Division department of Archives, Statistics, and Research, they decided to move forward with the project. After years of work, the result has now been published as a much slimmer 317 page volume written to serve equally well as a text book and a fun read for anyone who wants to be inspired by the ways in which God has led.
In this video, Allen tells part of the history of the book, and how a chance encounter with a publisher made it all possible. Watch on YouTube.
If you would like to purchase a copy of the book, it can be pre-ordered at Eerdmans.com, and through Feb. 28, you can use the coupon code SDA40 to save 40%.
