Don't drown in the economic storm

Union's Bridge to Union Scholarship will cover the tuition costs for students who are eligible to receive a PELL grant.

The Bridge to Union Scholarship helps make our unparalleled personalized support available to many more students—regardless of financial circumstances.”

How the scholarship works

The Bridge to Union Scholarship is designed for students who are eligible to receive a PELL grant and will cover tuition not covered by your federal and state financial aid packages.

NEW FOR SPRING 2024: The Bridge to Union is available to anyone is eligible to receive a PELL grant. There are no longer family income requirements. This scholarship is also now available for transfer students.

The scholarship covers the fall and spring semesters only up to a total of eight semesters for students who remain continuously enrolled as full-time students (this may vary for transfer students).

Qualifications

  • Be eligible to receive a federal Pell Grant. As of Spring 2024, there is no longer a family income requirement.
  • Accept all federal and state aid they are eligible to receive including PELL grant, Federal Education Opportunity Grant, and federal loans—subsidized and unsubsidized. ALTERNATELY, starting in Spring 2024, students may choose to cover the amount of federal loans in some other way and still receive the Bridge to Union Scholarship.

Students do not need to fill out a separate application. Just fill out the FAFSA. If qualified, the scholarship will automatically be added to the financial aid package.

Renewal

To renew the scholarship for up to seven additional semesters, students must:

  • Be continuously enrolled at Union as a full-time student (12-17 credit hours per semester).
  • Maintain a 2.0 GPA at Union.
  • Remain Pell Eligible
  • Accept all federal and state aid to include, Pell Grant, FSEOG and Federal Loans–subsidized and unsubsidized. ALTERNATELY, starting in Spring 2024, students can cover the amount of federal loans in another way and still qualify for the Bridge to Union Scholarship.
  • Cannot use the scholarship for more than two semesters per academic year.

Note: This scholarship is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Union Adventist University reserves the right to limit the number of individuals who are awarded this scholarship.

Non-tuition expenses

The Bridge to Union program covers tuition only. Students can earn a majority of their room and board fees by working on campus throughout both semesters and contributing summer work earnings to their account. Outside scholarships may also be applied toward room and board.

More scholarships

Financial aid is available to all Union undergraduate students—regardless of income or eligibility for federal financial aid. For instance, every freshman admitted to Union already receives a four-year renewable scholarship of $4,000 up to full tuition (worth nearly $100,000 over four years) based on academic achievement, financial situation and other factors. Frequently Asked Questions

How do I apply?

You do not need to do anything special to apply. Just fill out your FAFSA and apply to Union College. If you qualify and choose to accept your federal and state financial aid, the Bridge to Union Scholarship will automatically be added to your financial plan.

What if I lose PELL eligibility?

Eligibility for the Bridge to Union Scholarship will be reviewed each year when the FAFSA for that year is submitted. If the FAFSA shows that you are no longer eligible to receive a PELL grant, you will no longer be eligible for the Bridge to Union Scholarship.

Does the Bridge to Union Scholarship cover room and board?

No, the Bridge to Union Scholarship only covers tuition. Students can earn a majority of their room and board by working on campus throughout both semesters and contributing summer work earnings to their account. Outside scholarships and Parent Plus loans may also be applied toward room and board.  

What if I'm not eligible for federal financial aid?
