Projected growth in math careers.
Maybe you see patterns and structure where others see a jumble of numbers; maybe you see a math formula as an art form. If so, mathematics may be your calling.
As a math major, you’ll learn to derive useful information from the details. You’ll translate your computations into practical applications, taking your solutions out of the calculator and into the real world.
Why study math?
- Mathematics is a great preparation for many graduate programs—including law school and medical school. In fact, math majors tend to have a higher acceptance rate than other majors.
- Mathematics teachers and mathematicians have a very high employment rate.
- Math is integral to a number of key fields, including technology, medicine and economics.
The Math Program really nurtured me throughout my years at Union. I graded, tutored and taught as my job and for some of my classes. I got a lot of experience in what I said I wanted to do early on and stuck with the program because of it. They were very encouraging and willing to help me whenever I needed it.
