Distance learning students in SARA states and territories
Union Adventist University wishes to resolve all student grievances, complaints and concerns in a fair and amicable manner. Students who have a complaint or grievance are encouraged to first follow the university's internal complaint process outlined here.
If an issue cannot be adequately resolved through internal processes, then students may choose to contact an external agency: Nebraska's Coordinating Commission for Postsecondary Education.
Union Adventist University is a member of the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements. NC-Sara establishes comparable national standards for offering distance education courses and programs between states. The program is overseen by a National Council and administered by four regional education compacts. Union's participation is administered by the Midwestern Higher Education Compact (MHEC). Because the complaint process between these 49 states and three territories have been harmonized, complaints regarding Union Adventist University may be made to Nebraska's Coordinating Commission for Postsecondary Education regardless of which SARA state you live in.
If you believe Nebraska's commission is not following the SARA standards appropriately, you may choose to lodge your complaint in your home state as well. NC-SARA maintains a list of state complaint portals here.
Complaints may also be filed with the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), the independent non-profit regional agency that accredits Union Adventist University. Their complaint process may be found here.
Students Residing in the non-SARA states
Students who live in a non-SARA state (i.e., California and the Mariana Islands) are required to follow the complaint procedures identified by the student’s state or territory of residence. Please note: Union Adventist University does not maintain these agency websites, and information and links may change without Union's knowledge.
